Screenshot editing, with a little more style.

Window frame

None, macOS dark, macOS light, macOS outline, Windows dark or Windows light, drawn crisp at any export size.

1. Open Mockup on the rail and pick a frame under Window frame.
2. Match the frame to the audience, not to your own machine — a Windows deck full of macOS chrome is a small, constant distraction.
3. Pick None when the screenshot already contains its own window.

Title and address bar

The window’s title, or a browser address bar with the URL you choose.

1. With a frame chosen, tick Show a title and type it into Title — it starts from the page’s own name.
2. Tick Address bar and type into URL to show a browser address bar above the page instead.

Shadow

None, Soft, Medium, Hard, Glow (with its own colour) or Aura.

1. Pick a Shadow. Glow adds a colour picker for the glow itself.
2. None is the right answer on a busy backdrop, where a shadow just adds mud.

Glass

A diagonal shine across the screenshot.

1. Tick Glass reflection — worth it on a dark screenshot, usually not on a light one.

Text or logo

Your own logo image (validated upload, up to 512 KB) or text in Sans / Serif / Mono / Rounded.

1. Open Brand on the rail and tick Add a watermark.
2. Type into Watermark text, or choose a Logo file.
3. Set its Colour to something that survives the backdrop behind it — white on a dark gradient, dark on a pale one — and pick a Font.

Placement

Size, opacity and logo width, five position shortcuts, and free drag-anywhere on the picture.

1. Drag size and opacity until the mark is legible but not loud — 30–40% opacity is usually the mark of somebody who has done this before.
2. Under Position, jump to Top left, Top right, Centre, Bottom left or Bottom right, or drag the mark anywhere on the picture.

Precision

Positions are canvas fractions, so a dragged mark lands identically at any export size.

Tools

Select, Step, Text, Blur, Pen, Highlight, Rectangle, Circle, Line, Arrow and Spotlight.

1. Open Annotate on the rail and pick a tool under Tools.
2. Step, Text and Blur are placed with one press on the picture; the others are drawn with a drag.
3. Step numbers itself: place them in the order somebody reads, and deleting one renumbers the rest.
4. Blur is a redaction — put it over anything that should not leave your machine.
5. Esc puts the tool down; picking another group on the rail does too.

Move anything

Press any annotation to pick it up and drag it — a rectangle, a line or a pen stroke moves whole and keeps its shape.

1. Press on an annotation to select it and drag it where it belongs. The drag keeps going past the edge of the picture until you let go.
2. Thin lines and large blurs are easy to catch: the grab area follows the drawn shape, with a margin measured on screen.

Spotlight

A circular magnifier with a size and a 1.5×–5× zoom (type up to 10×), drawn from the full-resolution capture.

1. Drag a spotlight over the detail that matters, then set its Size and Zoom.
2. It magnifies from the full-resolution capture, so the enlarged part stays sharp on export.

Selected

Every setting of the annotation you pressed: text, style, colours, sizes and spacing.

1. A selected annotation’s settings appear under Selected. For text: Text, Style (Plain, Badge, Coupon, Flyer or Callout), Text size, Text and Background colours, Box width (0 is Auto), Padding X and Y, Margin and Corner.
2. Sizes are a slider and a number: a caption slides to 36 px and can be typed up to 200 px; strokes type up to 50 px.
3. Delete removes it.

On this screenshot

A list of everything placed, with a delete button on each row, and Clear all.

1. Press a row to select that annotation; the bin on the row deletes it.
2. Clear all removes every annotation without touching the screenshot underneath.

History

Undo and Redo with ⌘Z and ⌘⇧Z, up to 51 steps; a slider drag or a finished edit is one step.

1. Undo and Redo sit under the tools, and ⌘Z / ⌘⇧Z work anywhere on the page.
2. While you are typing a caption, ⌘Z undoes the typing, not the last annotation.

Frames strip

Every capture as a numbered thumbnail under the picture; click one to open it, drag to reorder.

1. Capture several pages and each one joins the frames strip under the picture.
2. Click a thumbnail to open that frame; its name and pixel size are shown at the right of the strip.
3. Drag thumbnails to set the order the ZIP is written in. Hover one for Crop and Delete.
4. A page that failed to capture is marked in amber rather than hidden.

Your own images

Bring pictures in from outside a capture — PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF — and style them like any capture.

1. Drop image files anywhere on the editor; they join the end of the strip and the first one opens.
2. Or press + Add at the end of the strip to choose several at once, or paste an image with ⌘V.
3. An empty editor offers Choose images, so you can start without taking a screenshot at all.

Shared styling

Styling is shared across frames, and the ZIP export re-renders every frame through the same renderer.

1. Style one frame and every frame takes the same backdrop, mockup and watermark.
2. That is what makes a set of screenshots look like a set rather than a collection.

Long pages

A full-page capture of a very long page is scaled down, or cut at the most one image can hold, and the editor says which.

1. If a frame is not the whole page at full size, an amber note says so above the picture and a dot marks its thumbnail.
2. The progress screen shows which part of a long page is being captured.

Export

Download PNG, Copy, Share, or Export all (ZIP) — along the top bar.

1. Download PNG saves the frame you are looking at, styled; it reads Saved once the file is written.
2. Copy puts it straight into a document, a ticket or a message.
3. Share sends it to your own Google Drive and gives you a link (Pro and Teams — see Cloud Sync).
4. Export all (ZIP) writes every frame through the same renderer.

The ⋯ menu

Pin for reuse, Cloud storage…, Reset to defaults, Keyboard shortcuts and Close editor.

1. Pin for reuse keeps a shot in the popup’s Pinned tab, up to 10.
2. Cloud storage… connects Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive.
3. Reset to defaults returns the styling to where you started.
4. The button beside the menu switches between System, Light and Dark.

Crop

A full-screen crop with a rule-of-thirds grid, handles on every edge, live pixel dimensions and exact W×H inputs.

1. Hover the picture and press Crop, or use Crop on a thumbnail.
2. Drag a corner or edge handle, or type exact numbers into the W×H inputs.

Engine

The same renderer draws the preview and every export — the downloaded PNG is the preview, pixel for pixel, crisp from 1080p through 4K Retina.

Shared wallpapers

Coming soon: 51 wallpapers across Screenshot Studio and the video editor — eight FramioCam originals and 43 macOS backgrounds. Full images download on first use and are cached for offline reuse, with progress and retry in the picker.

Resize handles and arrow shapes

Coming soon: resize text, rectangles, circles, and blur by their corners; adjust line and arrow ends or a spotlight’s radius. Pick from 14 arrow shapes: Line, Marker, Hand drawn, Sketch, Curved, Elbow, Bent, Double, Dashed, Dotted, Open, Block, Chevron, and Triangle. Bend and turn supported shapes directly on the picture; each drag is one undo step.

Tool keys

Coming soon: visible letter keys on every tool, matching the video editor. V selects, N places a Step, T adds Text, B selects Blur, P Pen, H Highlight, R Rectangle, C Circle, L Line, A Arrow, and Z Spotlight. Tool keys leave typing and dialogs alone.

Brand watermark handles

Coming soon: select your own text or logo watermark, resize it from a corner, delete it with Delete or Backspace, and undo the change. Your brand watermark is separate from the free plan’s FramioCam watermark.
